Groovy Grape Barossa Day Out
Are you ready for a brilliant Barossa Day out? Your Groovy Grape tour will pick you up between 8.30-9.00am (depending on which of our pick-up options you choose) and you’ll be on your way for an incredible day.
We take the scenic drive through the Adelaide hills to our first stop, Gumeracha, and home to.... wait for it....‘The Big Rocking Horse’. Yes, this is the World’s largest rocking horse! Set in a wonderful wildlife park, you can admire his splendour from the ground, or if you’re feeling energetic, pay a small $2 fee and climb to the top for breath taking views. And if you love native Australian Wildlife, there’s an option to pay a small fee to enjoy 20 mins of wildlife fun, where you can feed and interact with the friendly Kangaroos and Wallabies. It's also a great spot to grab a coffee or a toasted sandwich if you’re feeling peckish before the day’s adventures continue.
Our next destination is the Barossa Reservoir to experience one of the World’s most remarkable acoustic phenomena, The Whispering Wall before we meander our way into the Beautiful Barossa Valley.
Our first winery stop today is the passionately family owned and operated, Kies Family Winery. Here you’ll sample a selection of their award-winning wines. Kies Winery are proud to be one of the most eco-friendly wineries, operating 95% of the time off grid! A very impressive achievement.
Our journey continues to the iconic Lambert Estate where their host will take you through a wonderful tasting experience followed by a delicious pizza lunch. This lunch is served in the centre of the table, allowing for lively conversation while savouring mouth-watering freshly made gourmet pizzas for all.
Menglers Hill Lookout is our next stop to admire the panoramic views of this stunning region.
We descend into the heart of the valley next where the afternoon is all about living like a local as you have 45 mins to enjoy the delights of Tanunda and it’s your choice how you spend it. Enjoy a wine tasting at our 3rd winery Z Wines, the inspiration of sisters Janelle and Kristen Zerk (Z for Zerk) who continue the families rich wine producing history spanning 5 generations.
Or, if you’re wined out and fancy something a bit different visit the Rein Bier Brewhouse Cellar door and taste a few locally brewed beers (Brewhouse tasting own cost). Alternatively, you might prefer to wander and explore Tanunda’s charming shops, buy a souvenir, or enjoy a coffee or an ice cream, before we board the bus and head home Adelaide bound.
