Katherine T147 days agoWonderful I had such a fantastic time on this wine tour! From start to finish, everything was well organised and ran smoothly. The wineries we visited were beautiful, each with its own unique atmosphere, and the wine selections were excellent. Our guide Craig was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. They shared great insights about the wines and the region without making it feel overwhelming, which I really appreciated. The day felt relaxed, fun, and a perfect mix of learning and just enjoying the scenery (and the wine!). It was also a great way to meet new people and try wines I wouldn’t normally pick myself. I’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun day out, whether you’re a wine lover or just want to try something different. I’d happily do it again!Posted on Tripadvisor

JackieH77220 days agoA great way to spend an afternoon We chose this tour as only wanted to spend half a day wine tasting. It was very well put together so that you could travel through the beautiful McLaren Valley, taste several different wines at two wineries and get to see the unusual cube buliding. The tour is a small group tour which is ideal to meet fellow travellers and discuss the wines that you are sampling. The tour stopped off at Glenelg, we stayed there to have our dinner as there are so many eateries available. The ocean is very calm and warm so if you enjoy swimming you can take the opportunity for a dip. if you choose to stay at Glenelg and not return on the tour bus, the tram is easy and reasonably priced that brings you back to the city. (if you are Australian and travelling on a seniors card the tram is free). We had read the reviews of the whole day tour and realised that we wanted to spend more time at Hahndorf than allotted. We decided to catch the public transport bus from the city centre to Hahndorf, which was very easy and cheap. This allowed us several hours to have coffee, lunch and walk to the Beerenburg farm. there is a bus stop right outside the farm that brings you back to the city.Posted on Tripadvisor
Go767310221 days agoExcellent afternoon trip We had a great time. Clive was at the pick up point early so we were able to get out of the heat . He gave us a good description of the trip and was a good driver .we visited 2 winerys at the first Haselgrove where we tasted 5 wines and we had the platter that Clive organised (meat and cheese $50) plenty for 2 and excellent quality. We then went to Chapelhill winery via the cube, where again we had 5 wines again excellent staff. The return trip was via Glenelg where some of the party stayed to enjoy the beach we returned to Adelaide about 6.00 and excellent trip well run by Clive .Posted on Tripadvisor

Terrific insights into the history and development of Adelaide from a seasoned professional guide/driver. The wineries were lovely and very informative. This tour is a real gem.Posted on Tripadvisor
Starry Chen241 days agoHalf day wine trip to McLaren Vale I did this trip on 27 Dec 2025. This is a very good trip, good value for money. I have the opportunity to do wine tasting at Haselgrove and Chapel Hill on that day. I also have time to stop and take photos in front of the iconic d’Arenberg Cube. It is very worth doing for a person who is interested in wine but has limited time. Before this trip ends, the driver has given us twenty minutes to walk around Glenelg (near Glenelg Jetty). I appreciate this arrangement because I have the chance to walk on the Glenelg Beach. Very good trip and beautiful memory.Posted on Tripadvisor

Simon G267 days agoJust brilliant afternoon We wanted to do a half day rather than full day tour. This was perfect, some great wine. Craig our driver and guide was knowledgeable, fun and gave the key highlights and information without overloading us with things we would instantly forget. The wine particularly in Chapel Hill was superb. No one tries to oversell on the trip. If we wanted to stay in Glenelg in the afternoon we could, so great flexibility. Our route took us through Hahndorf and the Adelaide Hills and then back via Glenelg. Bruce was an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable. He helped to make the trip a very memorable one. Some confusion over my extra single added booking but I appreciated the phone call the night before which I could refer to. Clear and interesting details on the bus tour and at the cellar doors. ARKCHC427 days agoIf you’ve only 1/2 day, do this tour. Really great 1/2 day tour of the McLaren Vale region. Visited 2 wineries and Chapel Hill was a highlight. We tasted 7 wines here including a fortified wine (i.e. port) and the place was amazing. Kudos to Craig the driver who was informative, friendly and just a great host. Jon J451 days agoSurprising beach sunset Fun afternoon to visit a couple of nice wineries. A little farther drive than I thought but worth it. Wine tastings were focused on reds. Not exactly my palette but all good. The stop at the beach town of Glenelg yielded a gorgeous sunset on the eve of the Winter Solstice. We had a whole hour at Haselgrove. I really enjoyed the fact that you got multiple different experiences during the course of the day. You started with a good overview tour of Adelaide hitting some of the highlights of the city. Then it’s on to Mt Lofty before heading to Hansdorf, a German town about 30 minutes outside the city. Lots of unique restaurants and shops there so the 2 hours you have to visit goes quickly. The afternoon includes a visit to 2 different wineries with tastings. And you finish up the day by stopping at the seaside town near Adelaide (with the option of getting off and taking the tram back to the city). Overall, I couldn’t have hoped for a better experience! If you have only 5 hours this trip is well worth it. The stop off at Glen Elg on the return was amazing. Craig was so nice to give us detailed explanations about Adelaide, where I could see his pride and joys in living in such a beautiful city. My family and I very much enjoyed wine tasting as well as the stunning sceneries of wineries and coast. Susan H635 days agoGreat half day experience I found the half day tour perfect for me as a solo traveler. I enjoyed visiting the 2 wineries and meeting new people. The guide was excellent and informative. My only add-on would be to recommend bringing a swimsuit in good weather. At the end of the tour, you can opt to stay at the beach and take the tram back to Adelaide. Had I known, I would have enjoyed a swim in the sea and a dinner near Glenelg jetty. The 2 wineries we visited (Haselgrove and Chapel Hill) were both delightful as were the respective hosts, Rebecca and Lee. They knew their stuff and communicated it well. Most of the wines were great, the standout for us was the Chapel Hill Sangiovese rose, a bargain at $18 and the other was the Chapel Hill tawny port.Posted on Tripadvisor
HonoluluGolfer673 days agoGreat Afternoon Craig was a great driver and guide. We visited Chapel Hill and Haselgrove wineries. We sampled 7 wines at Chapel Hill and 5 at Haselgrove. Both of the presenters were very thorough in their description of their wine process. We also stopped to see the cube and Salvador Dali sculptures. On the way back to town, we stopped into Glenelg for a wander on the beach. The visits to two Vineyards were interesting & informative & whilst not all the wines were to our taste the tour provided an excellent opportunity to enhance our knowledge of wines. Gleneig was lovely to see & our stroll to the beach amply demonstrated the Australian Outdoor lifestyle. MrMink911 days agoVery nice scenic tour of McLaren Vale & in-depth tastings at 2 wineries off the beaten track, but BYO food or tasting 10 wines w This is certainly the best value tour ($79) of the McLaren Vale (two) wineries, BUT no food opportunities other than extra paid for ($25) cheese platter. Given that tour runs from 12.30-5.30pm I highly recommend bringing some food to nibble on to ward off the effects of tasting 10 or so different wines. Because the small coach tour goes directly to Chapel Hill winery, then on to Haselgrove, there is absolutely NO opportunity to buy food anywhere, other than pre-ordered (when you get on the bus @12.30) cheese platter at Haselgrove at 2.30pm or so. We first spent an hour at Chapel Hill tasting 2 whites and 2 reds, with a bonus fortified. Same format at Haselgrove but another red instead of the fortified. Very informative talks by winemakers at both places about the wines make it a very complete experience for winefans. I was blissfully unaware that in mid-March it was about halfway through the grape-picking season, so they were talking about X grape we picked last Friday! Our driver James had actually worked 2 vintages himself so able to give very interesting commentary on wine-making generally. Both wineries we went to were nice, the woman running the first one was also very outgoing and was fun to talk to. The second winery was good and informative. Our guide drove us through Glenelg on the way back and offered to drop us off there for the evening if we wanted. Haselgrove & Chapel hill gave us a warm welcome and some lovely tastings. We even popped in to D’Arenberg to see some of the Salvador Dali sculptures. Topped off with a wee visit to Glen Elg. Chinkara691290 days ago1/2 Day Vineyards hopping at McLaren Wine Region We visited Adelaide on the 3rd time. First in Feb 2018, went to Victor Harbour for 2 days 1 night, & made a day trip & joined a day tour at Kangaroo Island. On our way back to Adelaide from Cap Jervis, we stopped by Wirra Wirra vineyard to have a sumptuous meal. Last year we came on the last week of Feb to help our son start his uni at UofA. We visited Barossa Valley & visited Jacob Creek, had dinner at Char Grill at Tunada Town. On 27/2/23 afternoon, we boarded the tour bus at 12pm+ in Victoria Square near bus stop T1 in front of Hilton Hotel, there were another 6-7 tourists, 1 couple from NZ, 3 from UK’s Kent & Brighton, another two from Western Australia. The last passenger boarded at 12.29pm, so everyone was early or punctual based on 12.30 stipulated in Tripadvisor. Bruce was our driver cum tour guide. He is very experienced. He drove past Wakefield Road towards the east, & narrated along the way, humorous. Introduced the St Francis Catholic Catheral, an apt converted from a Gynecology hospital, & an area where all the luxurious cars’ showrooms were located before exited Adelaide. On the way up in Adelaide Hill, he stopped by to point to us Koala Bears resting on the trees. We stopped by Hahndorf German town to pick up 6 more passengers whom he alighted them earlier to have German lunches. There was an option for those who would like to have a cheese platter, we could pay additional A$25 directly to the first Vineyard Shingleback. We tried around 6 different white & red wines there, as shown in my photos. The next stop was Chapel Hill, a slightly larger vineyard with a more upscale setting. Please see photos & videos attached. My wife & I preferred the wines offered at Chapel Hill over Shingleback. We drove pass a few vineyards like Wirra Wirra that we visited in 2018, a popular restaurant at a junction near Wirra Wirra, before visiting an iconic building with a restaurant on level 2 called Singapore Circus. The building resembles a Rubicon Cube in black & white (Pls see photos). As stated in the itinerary, Bruce drove us to the coast of Seacliff, up north towards Hove, a guest stayed at a beach front hotel there, & she alighted; finally at a bus stop in Glenelg beach where there are a few Marinas. Two passengers alighted there for dinner, & they would arrange their own transport back to Adelaide. The beauty of this tour it is affordable, & even if you possessed a car, you would not be able to drink & drive when you visit vineyards, you can convenient rest or even take a nap while the some one else take care of the driving & narration. You wld not have that if you visit yourself, no illustration of local history & culture. We alighted in front of 230 North Terrace where my son lived. Robyne1567 days agoWonderful way to spend a rainy afternoon I really enjoyed the tour. The guide/driver was full on information and the history of different parts of Adelaide. The wineries were entertaining and the views wonderful. The only criticism I had was the drive up there went via Hahndorf so the first leg took more than an hour and half, bit too long for my taste. Myself and two friends booked this tour the morning of over the phone, I was nervous we had missed out with a late booking but there was enough room for us. So glad we did as we had the most spectacular day. We were picked up seamlessly from the meeting point and met Craig our driver and host. He was full of knowledge and good banter and as we traveled out of the city into the hills he gave us a quick rundown of the history of Adelaide and also pointed out some of his go-to spots along the way. The views were phenomenal. We arrived at our first winery, Shingleback there we had a delicious cheese platter and got to sample some wines. The tasting was super fun and informative. Craig took his time to point out some iconic views on the way to our next stop Chapel Hill. Views were great here, the tasting was shorter than the previous winery but equally informative. En route back to the city we did a coastal drive and stop off at Glenelg, we chose not to stay for the evening and continue back into the city but that definitely would have been a fun option and it was great to have the choice. We had such a fun day, really got great value for money considering it is a half day tour. Craig was amazing and same with the gentleman who took my booking. We ended our tour driving along the beaches to Glenelg and had option of being driven back to hotel, or staying longer and taking the free tram back to the city. We did that and walked down to the beach and watched some of the other tour members playing ball. Had drinks at the hotel at the beach, and watched the lovely sunset. JR, our guide, was a local lad who had fantastic knowledge of the area in which he grew up but also about the process of making wine. He was also very entertaining with his stories. We stopped at Chapel Hill which is in a beautiful setting, tasting eight wines and finishing with a Tawny Port! Then called at a chocolate shop and opted for the cafe and a cup of tea before going to the Shingleback Cellar which was really lovely. It is an independent wine making business that has won loads of award. We had eight wines to taste and they were all fabulous. Bought three to take home with us!!!! Finished in Glenelg at a local restaurant and then Ubered home. What a great day out. JoBrophy2441 days agoFun Girls Afternoon... We only had a limited time frame in Adelaide and wanted to get a little taste of the Adelaide wineries. This tour was recommended to me by a friend and was absolutely worth it. Our tour only had the 3 stops but they were all fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. We opted to get off at Glenelg and had dinner at a local restaurant there and then caught an uber back to our accom (only approx $20). Craig our driver was professional, funny and kept us entertained! His recommendation to try the port at Chapel Hill was listened to and I seriously think nearly everyone on our tour bought a bottle - it was amazing! We visited two wine cellars and got to taste a broad range of reds and whites. Definitely recommend ordering the cheese platter at the second one! The first winery we visited was a converted chapel. It had gorgeous views and the wine to match. Definitely recommend trying the Devil’s Tawny (sounds scary but it’s super delicious). The second winery had a long list of wines to try but don’t fret you also get to nibble on a cheese platter which is only $14 AUD. We booked the 1/2 day tour, as my 8 yr old son was with travelling with my mother and myself. We were greeted by Craig our guide with such excitement. Only a small group, nice and relaxed . Craig was full of information for us as we were on our way. Was very happy to answer any questions thrown his way. Stopping at 2 wineries with a beautiful tour of the Adelaide Hills on the way. With time for a little detour to Glenelg Beach. On return we were dropped back to our hotel. What a funtastic day we all had. I highly recommend this half day tour to see the very best of the McLaren Vale area, we ended our tour at Glenelg and were encouraged to watch the sunset from the Grand Hotel over the ocean with our new found friends we met on the tour. Brilliant way to top off our day, thanks guys so much. Thoroughly recommended and good value.Posted on TripadvisorBethfromA22585 days agoGreat Half Day Wine Tour We only had two half day in Adelaide after our Kangaroo Island Tour. It was not possible to get to the Barossa Valley in that time frame during an afternoon. At the last minute I found this tour which suited our needs. Though it was a cloudy, rainy day the scenery was gorgeous and our driver and guide, Will, was very congenial and entertaining. He took us through the Adelaide Hills and then to the McClaren Vale. Both wineries were good and the tour was not large so we all got to talk and mingle. By the time we got to Gleneig the sun was shining and we had a nice walk by the sea. Some stayed for the sunset. Great half day alternative!
